Neurologist and board-certified Neurosurgeon, Dr. Gunwant Mallik, specializes in spine surgery and the treatment of nerve pathologies. Dr. Mallik migrated from Bombay, India to the United States with his parents when he was just a teenager. After attending Indiana University for both his bachelor’s degree and medical school, he relocated to Columbus, Ohio to complete his residency of Neurosurgery at The Ohio State University.
Dr. Mallik was the director of the Neurosurgery program for Ohio University and a Clinical Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at The Ohio State University. During both those roles, he was also directing the Neuroscience program of Ohio Health at Grant Medical Level 1 Trauma Center from 2001 until starting his private practice in 2006.
His role as an orderly in nursing homes marked the beginning of his medical career and led to him reaching the highest level of education in his profession. The empathy he feels for his patients and their families transcends to an extraordinary bedside manner and compassion for his patients' care. Dr. Mallik’s approach to patient care is holistic, in that he will treat the mind and the body in the most effective way and turns to surgery as a treatment option only if it is needed.
Dr. Mallik has now dedicated his career to relieve pain and suffering by bridging his own knowledge of medicine from his training in the U.S. with those proficient in the philosophy and treatments of Ayurveda from India, Acupuncture, Chiropractic Medicine and energy healing modalities.
